Hydrology Center
The Hydrological Center (CH) is a subdivision within the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS), established as a Center to implement / coordinate with national and international policies in monitoring the state and quantitative evolution of water resources in the Republic of Moldova.
The structure of the Hydrological Center
The hydrological center consists of three directions:
- Hydrological Forecasts Department;
- Hydrological Monitoring Department;
- Data Management and Hydrography Department.
The Hydrological Center manages the National Hydrological Monitoring Network (NHMN), consisting of 2 Hydrological Stations and 58 Hydrological Posts.
The activity of the Hydrological Center is regulated by:
- Constitution of the Republic of Moldova;
- Law on hydrometeorological activity No. 1536-XIII of 25.02.1998;
- Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova no. 935 of 11.10.1999;
- Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova no. 401 of 03.04.2003;
- Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova no. 330 of 03.04.2006;

The Hydrological Center is the national authorized source for information:
- about the state and quantitative evolution of surface waters;
- about hydrological forecasts and warnings;
- about the period and evolution of the flood and hydrological droughts;
- about water balance and evapotranspiration;
- about ice phenomena on rivers and water basins;
- about ice phenomena on rivers and water basins;
- on the distribution in time and space of surface water resources;
- about the national hydrological monitoring system NHMN;
- about hydromorphological information / studies;
- about hydrological hazards;
